For the past decade, Future West has taken that observation to heart in our efforts to “help communities identify and create the future that they want.” Though never in our wildest dreams did we think that change would come to this region in as dramatic a fashion as has occurred in the past month. We hope that you and yours are safe and well. And we thank you for the services that your businesses and organizations are providing to help us get through these challenging times.
Know that Future West remains committed to its mission which seems more relevant than ever. Working with our community partners, we are finding ways to continue to provide them with the information, training, technical assistance and facilitation that they need to weather the challenges they are facing today, and create sustainable communities that are successful in the long run. Though it seems like the distant past, in December Future West published a Tenth Anniversary Report, “Celebrating and Expanding Ten Years of Community-Based Conservation Success.” In it, we unveiled our Sustaining the New West Campaign. Of course, we had no idea that the world was going to be turned upside down.
While there is a tsunami of front burner issues that we are all confronting, there also seems to be growing recognition of what is really important in life – family, community, environment, among others. Our personal health, and the health of our home towns, our economies, and even our beloved natural landscapes has become an even greater priority. Maintaining and enhancing these values and assets is the focus of our Campaign. Please join us and be a part of Give Big’s day of giving.
