With plenty of fresh snow in the mountains, it’s hard not to get into the holiday spirit. 2015 has been an exciting year for Future West. Santa brought us a terrific present!
The exciting stuff included completion of several collaborative conservation projects such as a capacity building initiative that helped fledgling conservation organizations become more successful through workshops, technical assistance, and small grants.
Our Payment for Ecosystem Services Program that rewards landowners living along the Big Hole river for conservation and restoration efforts is now funded and ready to launch in early 2016. Funding was also secured for the reclamation of several hard rock mines in the Missouri watershed. And subdivided lands in the Madison Valley have been identified for their ecological importance and will be protected through conservation easements. Finally, the City of Butte has a new citizen-crafted historic preservation plan facilitated by Future West.
And here is our year-end gift from Santa!
Future West has a new website at future-west.org that we think is pretty cool. If you like what you see, invest in our efforts to help communities create the future they want. Your support is greatly appreciated, and we believe it will ultimately benefit you, your community, and the lands, waters, and wildlife of this beautiful region.
Thank you again for your interest and support of our work, and best wishes for a happy and healthy 2016.
